Film History: The Story of “Hollywood”

The Los Angeles, California, District of Hollywood is identified with the entertainment world’s beauty, wealth, and influence. Hollywood is the world’s entertainment hub and offers a home to several renowned television and film studios and record labels. Despite its glamorous reputation, Hollywood has humble origins. 

It began as a tiny farming hamlet and grew into a diversified, dynamic metropolis where stars are created and dreams come true.

It all began with a handful of independent studios who wanted to distance themselves from “The trust.” Primarily Thomas Edison and his litigation, so they moved to Los Angeles to distribute, create, and screen their films. 

Los Angeles’s distance from New York helped it become the home of independent film studios. The four key advantages were that Los Angeles was always sunny, the real estate was affordable, the city was shop-friendly, and a diversity of sites and terrain. These settings were ideal for filming movies at any studio. 

Soon nearly every studio, independent or large, desired to settle there, filling Hollywood with film studios.

Hollywood Landing in LA

A structure was created in the first place to ensure the quality and cost of film production. The producer, screenwriter, performer, and director developed a distinct division of work. All screenplays required producer approval and served as a guideline and blueprint for the final product.

The existence of a system makes Hollywood’s film business the most structured in today’s world.

Ruling Of Hollywood

When Europe struggled from World War II and focused on propaganda rather than the film business, Hollywood grew with a robust structure and finally became the world’s top film industry.

European cinema attempted a return and could never reach the level of Hollywood. To this day, Europe’s film industries have not recovered from the impacts of World War I, putting Hollywood ahead of its time.
