Hollywood’s Most Expensive Cars Ever Used On Film and TV
Cars can sometimes be the heart and soul of the films and television shows where they are featured. They can even be as important and beloved as the characters themselves. Can you imagine Batman without the iconic Batmobile? These cars have become so popular that fans worldwide would give crazy amounts of money to possess them. Their value increases with the fame of the movie or TV Show.
Here are 30 of the most famous cars that appeared on TV and in film. You will be surprised at the prices wealthy fans have paid to have them for their own leisure.
Batmobile – $4.62 million (Batman)
There have been so many Batmobiles in the past decades that we could dedicate an entire article to them. But, it was the original Batmobile that sold for the biggest amount.
It appeared in the live-action 1960s TV show and also in the 1966 movie. Bruce Wayne’s jet-black red-striped car was sold for a shocking $4.62 million.
1966 Monkeemobile Pontiac GTO – $396,000 (The Monkees)
With the booming Beatlemania, America got inspired, and in the 60s, NBC created a show called The Monkees based around a real band of musicians that they put together. The popular show featured legendary hits like “I’m a Believer,” “Last Train to Clarksville,” and “Pleasant Valley Sunday,” all the while cruising around in the Monkeemobile.
It was a ruby red 1966 Pontiac GTO, and it was ultimately sold at an auction for almost $400,000.
1985 Modena Spyder – $407,000 (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off)
There is always a bit of confusion when it comes down to the car in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Many web portals will tell you that the car used was a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder when it was, in fact, a 1985 Modena Spyder.
It was intended to serve as a replica of the 1961 Ferrari, thus the misconception. This incredible convertible will still be any teenager’s fantasy of a first car.
1969 Dodge Charger “General Lee” – $450,000 (Dukes of Hazzard)
How could we ever forget The Dukes of Hazzard’s vivid orange “General Lee”? Named after Confederate General Robert E. Lee, this tangerine 1968 Dodge Charger was more or less a third main character.
In 2008, a fan of the legendary show purchased the “General Lee” replica that used to belong to Bo actor John Schneider. They also got the signatures of the entire cast of the 1997 film adaptation under the hood of the car.
